“If you approach your art as an act of giving, you will be more effective at connecting with an audience. No special Tactics, no hacks, just a mindset”
So what better time of the year to spread your art and give back… For me, spreading art and the joy of Christmas is the closest to my heart. So, the project is simple: it’s called “24 Days Till Christmas” and I really hope I can make it and keep up the pace. Every day I will share a render of a scene, an object with a festive theme. I will also share the scene with all the 3D models, Shaders, Textures and even lighting setup; it’s just my way to give thanks for all the good fortune that I received. I really hope you enjoy it, and I really hope those scenes will help you in your school projects or even client projects cause you can use them wherever you want, you just can’t re-sell them. Alright… so, for the 24 Days Till Christmas I though of creating a cozy scene with some stockings that are hung waiting for Santa Clause to come and fill them up with goodies and X-mas gifts.
This scene was 3d modeled in Maya, the textures were created using Photoshop, and it was rendered using V-Ray for Maya and the final render was composited and color corrected in Photoshop. I also used a bit of magic bullet to add some mood to the final render.
You can Download the scene by visiting my Gumroad page. I will include all the sources of the scene, All the textures, all the shaders, and also the lighting setup, but you will need to have V-Ray for maya to be able to render out the image with the lighting setup that you receive with this scene, but for the creative people who are not using Maya or V-Ray I will upload the OBJ sources as-well so you can use the files in whatever software your heart pleases.
- Maya .mb and .ma files
- All textures Diffuse, Displacement (Height) maps
- Lighting setup using V-Ray lights
- OBJ files for all you non-Maya users
By the way, you will need to download the HDRI image that I used in this scene because I can’t distribute that files as being mine, and you will just need to put it into the sourceimages folder or link it up manually to your V-Ray dome light. Here is the link to download the HDRI called Alex’s Apartment
